changing your perception

so i walked home today after photojournalism class, and i was thinking about the things that my lecturer said.

something along the lines of, to be a good photojournalist, you have to be interested in people, you have to talk to people and get up close and personal. to get out of your comfort zone and meet new people, instead of being wrapped up in your tiny little bubble.

i saw this slightly old-ish malay couple carrying pillows and pillow cases walking towards the elevator.

i smiled and said "hi"

they smiled and said "hi"

and somewhere between getting into the elevator to the sixth floor where i lived,

they got to know that i was from temasek poly and i got to know that they were the second family to move into my block in the 1980s.

i think i like photojournalism. very much. :)
